We held our breath – to rain or not to rain? We were so lucky – Sunday 7th May dawned fine and sunny. The rear garden decorated by numerous Union Jacks fluttered in the breeze with green canopies around the garden boundary housing the various activities arranged to keep everyone interested and amused throughout the day.
The Lord Mayor of Westminster arrived looking magnificent in his full regalia to toast the new King. Accompanied by the Deputy Lieutenant who read the message issued by Buckingham Palace from King Charles and Queen Camilla thanking us for arranging the party to celebrate their Coronation.
Our own BBQ boys – Cliff and Radek were busy the whole day providing wonderful vegan and various meat options and salads to satisfy all tastes which could be washed down with a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and of course the ever-popular Prosecco.
For the children there was BB Balloonz who through magical artistry turned and twisted balloons into all kind of animals, creatures from outer space, and of course a Crown! The children were delighted and watched, enthralled as they worked their magic on the balloons
The Cactus Club got everyone line dancing to work off the BBQ lunch. This event was a joy to behold with participants and on lookers laughing as they tried, and eventually succeeded in their efforts to do the correct steps in time to the music.
In a quiet corner Kryptic Kate carried out Tarot card readings which were eagerly taken up by many residents wanting to know what their future held!
For the more adventurous the Fabulous Soul Stirrer Cocktail Company were on hand to mix, muddle and shake their way through the event. They made us an exclusive menu including a very special Coronation Cocktail to mark the occasion.
Finally, the day was drawn to a close with the drawing of the raffle ably performed by Buddy Sacks. Many tickets sold by the Kelly & Carol to those enjoying the party . The money raised was used to offset party costs and future events..
Thank you to all our supporters and local independent heroes who got involved, we couldn’t have done it without you.

The Coronation Committee had been working very hard for months to make sure the day was a success, but everyone realised that our efforts would not have been successful without the help and encouragement of our wonderful Building Manager Matthew.
GEGRA would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event such a success, to the generous commercial supporters who offered wonderful prizes for the raffle and to Grove End Housing Ltd and Aspire Homes who generously sponsored the event.
